Why Della Nonna?
Della Nonna means "the grandmother's". And that is exactly what we wanted this place to be: not a hotel, but a Nicaraguan grandmother's house, with rocking chairs on the porch, plants everywhere and someone who notices whether you have eaten.
Villa Fontana is a quiet neighbourhood of houses with yards, the kind where people still greet their neighbours. Ours is one of those houses: number 32, across from the bakery. No marble lobby, no key cards. Just a door, a garden and people waiting for you.
That is why most of our guests are not tourists passing through. They are students from the nearby universities, people who came to Managua for work for a few months, families visiting their own. They stay weeks, sometimes months. And they come back.

Breakfast at the Nonna's
«Della Nonna» means «the grandmother's». A guest once wrote on our Facebook page that the food was «worthy of our grandmothers». We kept the phrase.

They are not included in the rate, but you can order them and they come out of the same kitchen as breakfast. It costs far less than eating out, and you do not have to leave the house after a long day.

The house next door
Two kitchens, wall to wall
El Maguey is the family's diner: it is run by the son of the guesthouse owner and sits in the house right next door. Between the two you get different ways to eat through the day, so you can pick whichever suits your plans.

We offer a dish of the day for lunch and dinner, cooked to order. For lunch, just let us know before 11:00 a. m. the same day and we serve it in the dining room. The kitchen runs until 8:00 p. m. All of it made with that same home-cooked taste.
Next door
Monday to Saturday, breakfast is served from 7:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. Lunch is buffet style: you see what is available and pick what you prefer. There are usually three mains to choose from, the food is already made and there is no waiting. Lunch runs from 11:00 a. m. to 3:00 p. m.
